Thoughts/Feedback about the Grants Review App edit

Hi,

I would just like to highlight, as a GAC member, who contributed to reviewing Inspire proposals, the many benefits of reviewing grants with the "reviewing queue app", available here: https://iegreview.wikimedia.org/index.

I have found it to be very beneficial, as it helped streamline the process of grants' reviewing (having a queue of reviews "left to review" was a good motivation for me to get more work done, and I could select grants that didn't receive enough eyes yet, resulting in an overall bigger number of reviews per grant). I'd very much like to see it developed further, especially if more grantmaking campaigns like Inspire something that's in our future.

If I can add just two points for improvement, it would be those:

  • The session logoff time (where the system kicks you out and you have to re-login) is too short, and work isn't saved - and so if I have a long phone call, all my reviewing gets thrown away. Since this is not a time-crucial activity, I'd make the session time much longer.
  • There are a few minor usability issues - for example, when you log in, you have a blank page, instead of your "grants to review" page, and I also thought (during the campaign) that some of the scoring rubrics need a little improvement. If more usability feedback is welcome, do feel free to address me on my talk page, and I'll try and jog memory.

Thanks for the feedback, Alleycat80. Pinging Niharika (the designer of the tool) and Siko (WMF) to that they can take note of your suggestions. Cheers, Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 23:12, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
