Active Editors (AE) = Editors who make more than 5 edits (to any page) in a given calendar month. Note that this measure differs insubstantially from the old definition that limited edits to "countable pages".

MAE enwiki. Monthly active editors are plotted by four editor classes for enwiki

MAE rates enwiki. Activation rates are plotted at editor class thresholds for enwiki.

4 Classes

  • New: AE who registered in the current month
  • Surviving New: AE who registered and were active in the previous month
  • Old: AE who registered before the previous month and were active in the previous month
  • Reactivated: AE who registered before the current month and were not active in the previous month

3 Rates

  • New editor activation: Proportion of new registered users who are active in their first month
  • New active survival: Proportion of New AE who continue to be active in their second month (Surviving AE)
  • Old active survival: Proportion of Surviving, Old or Reactivated AE who continue to be active in the next month (Old AE)

This is super helpful, can you help me/us calculate such a graph (especially the activation rate) for it.wiki? --Nemo 11:48, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Heh. Just saw this. I've just posted the same analysis there and I'm working on some follow-up stuff right now.  :) --Halfak (WMF) (talk) 19:20, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh wow, that's more than I hoped! :) --Nemo 23:09, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
