The Occitan language, as one of the first roman litterature language of Europe, 1000 years ago with the Trobadors, should be also present in this wikiquote to share with other world's litterature

Arguments in favour edit

  • There is already a oc.wikipedia.org, so i don't know why not to have one oc.wikiquote.org. And also, it's writing in the "Requisites for eligibility" : "2. The language must have a valid ISO-639 1–3" So ISO-639 1 should be accepted. I don't want to restrict this demand only to one of our dialect, for example Languedocien
    Occitan is ambiguous. GerardM 22:55, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Occitan is not ambiguous at all because that’s the official terminologie used my the French Republic. If you inquire in the official site of the ministery of cultur (http://www.dglf.culture.gouv.fr/ ) you will only see the reference of Occitan :« Le recensement de 1999 a révélé que 26 % des adultes vivant en France avaient pratiqué dans leur enfance une langue autre que le français : l’alsacien (660 000 personnes), l’occitan (610 000),… ». The same if you look to the officials texts for teaching regionals languages in France, it will be mentioned “occitan”, sometimes “occitan-langue d’oc”, like in this section “Arrêté du 15 juillet 2003 modifiant les dispositions relatives à l’épreuve facultative de langue vivante à l’examen du baccalauréat professionnel : Parmi les langues pouvant faire l’objet d’une épreuve facultative au baccalauréat professionnel figurent le basque, le breton, le catalan, le corse, le gallo, l’occitan, le tahitien, les langues régionales d’Alsace, les langues régionales des pays mosellans et quatre langues mélanésiennes. ». This text is issued of the official legislation : http://www.dglf.culture.gouv.fr/lgfrance/legislationLDF.pdf where you will find others references of Occitan and not of one of the “many languages” you mentionned

Much wiki project functions very well with languages having a strong variability of dialects. It is not a problem! Cedric31 11:15, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Occitan es ara pas pus considerat coma un "macro language" mas coma un "individual language" a comtat del 14/03/2007, lo cambiament serà efèctiu. Vejatz aquí : [2].

    Doncas pensi que i a pas cap "d'ambigüitat". - Jiròni 18:34, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Occitan will be view as an individual language from the 14 March 2008:[3]. Now there is any ambiguity.Jiròni 13:00, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arguments against edit

  • The language committee approves new projects that are valid in the ISO-639-3. Occitan is considered a macro-language. This means that Occitan is considered to be many languages not a single one. GerardM 10:46, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The situation is the same one for the majority of the languages; French spoken in France or in Quebec is different, English of the United Kingdom and of the USA is different… This situation is not a problem in the occitans projects existing : Wikipèdia, Wikilibres and Wikiccionari. Cedric31 11:12, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This issue has resolved itself; ISO recognises it now as a single language. GerardM 07:10, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
