Question really. Would an encyclopaedia written in Old Norse differ substantially from the Icelandic one? Even if we eschewed English, Latin and Greek borrowings, I think we would simply have an archaic form of High Icelandic. LeighvsOptimvsMaximvs 16:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite since the languages may be very similar spoken but are written differently in many ways. Most likely due to the fact that it was written originally in runic and later translated by non-icelanders.--Pi314 16:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC) I support the idea since we just don't have enough icelandic wikipedia users here the icelanders and faroese can be together in one page, hopefully increasing the usercount.--Pi314 16:22, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whilst I remain cautious about an Old Norse wikipedia (I like the idea, but just look at the test wiki), perhaps someone should think of proposing an Old Norse wikisource. An Ancient Greek one has been approved (just not actually created), and there is a conspicuous absence of Old Norse/Icelandic literature on wikisource, both in the original and in translation. -- LeighvsOptimvsMaximvs 19:29, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The preview project is bad but it will not be like that if they make the Old Norse Wikipedia. If you look at the Ænglisc wikipedia, you will see that the layout is different from other projects. I hope the Old Norse one wil be the same. --Eilífr frá Noregi (talk) 05:21, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
