Arguments in favour
edit- Support Support: Native speakers of Karachay-Balkar have the competency and willingness to contribute to this project in the long-term. Hence the Karachay-Balkar language deserves to be given the opportunity and priviledge to have its own language edition of Wikipedia along with the existing Turkic languages such as Karakalpak, Bashkir, Tatar and so on. There are 400,000 speakers. --Jose77 21:24, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Support Strong support: I am impressed with the test project at Incubator (there are large and wikified articles) and with the rapid success of MediaWiki localization. I know some bits of the language and see that the articles at Incubator are in good modern days Karachay spelling used for publishing books and media. As a smaller Wikipedias activist, I know how important active editors are for a new Wikipedia: active editors are what the Karachay-Balkar project already has. So I hope this new Wikipedia will soon appear under its own domain. Amikeco 07:22, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Support Support: It is a living language with many speakers, it has official status in two regions of Russia. So I support. амдф 08:44, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- 'Support'Support. Language has writing and steady community. As this language is included into Turkic group of languages - can be as the carrier of the Sakha (Yakut) language I can bring the real contribution to development of this Wiki. --HalanTul 09:19, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- 'Support'Support. I support this proposal because I know Qarachay-Malqar as a living language with a great number of well-educated speakers. No doubt, this project has very good chance of success. --Denis Sacharnych 10:56, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

General discussion
editIsn't a good time to open Wikipedia in Karachay? It has an active community, plenty of articles, all mediawiki messages translated. Some other projects are already on mainspace even with poorer situation. Hugo.arg 22:17, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- The project passed all needed steps and bug at bugzilla has been filled. Now, it is up to technical staff of WMF to create the project. --Millosh 16:59, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you, Millosh. --Iltever 17:07, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
A full month to create a new Wikipedia, isn't it too much? krc.wikipedia.org is still empty. Please, do something about it; the way those guys started is just unique, treat them as they deserve. Amikeco 20:05, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with you. Test wikipedia is perfect, hard-working people for their language. --Dacxiri 21:49, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
