Requests for comment/Use the Wikipedia brand for all projects

The following request for comments is closed. no traction as a proposal

I have seen this being brought up many times, from Wiktionary logo !votes to the Knowledge Engine FAQ. The idea: extend the "Wikipedia" brand to cover all sister projects (Wikipedia Dictionary, Wikipedia Textbooks, Wikipedia Quotes, etc.). The URLs would be straightforward: en.dictionary.wikipedia.org, jbo.textbooks.wikipedia.org, simple.travelguide.wikipedia.org, etc. I would also propose creating/reopening a full set of sisterprojects for every existing Wikipedia, and creating projects in every language with translation files in the Mediawiki software (en-gb, en-ca, avk, etc.). Or use the Wikimedia brand for all projects?

  1. Strong oppose we should do the opposite and support more the sister projects, otherwise they will just become secondary services of WP in people's heads. --CreativeC (talk) 13:03, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
