Change upload.wikimedia.org favicon logo
editSo over the years we have been reducing the over use of the WMF logo. One example is how meta changed it's logo.
Currently any full screen view of a file on a browsers pulls the WMF logo as the Favicon. So if you go to a file such as File:Feliscatus Istanbul.JPG and say click on the 400x600px resolution file, [1] you will see a small before the URL on Internet Explorer and Chrome shows the logo on the tab itself.
WMF logo implies official connection to the foundation or even endorsement and should not be used so liberally. Community logo as a replacement makes sense since the files are used by the community regardless of where they are uploaded to. This is the same logo used by meta.

- Support per above. -- とある白い猫 chi? 01:54, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Strong support - this is an excellent but simple idea. It goes straight to the heart of the issue that content is mostly uploaded by the community and not the foundation. I'm happy to see a proposal that acknowledges that uploaded files are mostly stored in the same subdomain irrespective of whether we "uploaded locally" or to Commons. I have struggled to explain this concept to some people since proposing a NonFreeWiki. Green Giant (talk) 02:29, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Support. We should also change the logo on the index page as well [2]. --Glaisher (talk) 11:09, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose That's not the WMF logo, it's the Wikimedia logo. The domain hosts content for Wikimedia projects as a whole, which are represented by the Wikimedia logo. --Nemo 11:16, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- The WMF logo is exactly the same but with the words "Wikimedia Foundation" below it. There isn't much difference between those two whereas the proposed logo is a community logo. Green Giant (talk) 11:44, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Nemo bis: You know this, I know this, people voting here probably knows this but it isn't so obvious for our readers. Mind that the proposed logo is the "Wikimedia Community logo"; ie a logo not also used by the Wikimedia Foundation and its chapters but a Wikimedia logo never the less. -- とある白い猫 chi? 11:49, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Support Sure, though I don't think that anyone not involved in the movement will notice the difference. As Nemo said, the other logo can still represent Wikimedia. Ajraddatz (talk) 18:33, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Support Not a bad idea Archi38 (talk) 20:50, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
