PhilWiki Community/WikiProyekto Project

The WikiProyekto Project is an initiative of Filipino wikipedians focusing on the WikiProjects in Bikol Wikipedia. It will be run by the Philippine Wikimedia Community (PH-WC) with the main objective of creating and managing projects in the local Wikipedia. With this, the WikiProyekto Project aims to be one of the greatest leap done by the community on the improvement of Bikol Wikipedia.

The project intends to bring diversity to the topics featured in Bikol Wikipedia, as well as to organize them under a unified management and objective.

Background edit

One of the things which brought improvements to Bikol Wikipedia is the creation of projects through time. This serves as guide on the creation of articles under a specific topic. Objective of the projects is to widen the featured topics which will be read in Bikol Wikipedia.

WikiRabuz projects were created during the early days of Bikol Wikipedia as the first version of the WikiProyekto. These are the projects which were about the Bicol Region in different fields. Because of this, Bikol Wikipedia became a primary source of information about literature, history, and culture.

Seasonal projects then came to Bikol Wikipedia. All or majority of it were organized by international groups like the WikiGap and Wikipedia Asian Month. The Bikol Community actively participated in it which sometimes included meet-ups.

In the year of 2021, the current version of WikiProyekto were created which was started by WikiProyekto Siyensya. Its style is like the "WikiProject" in English Wikipedia which focuses on a major topic and is at all times. After science, a lot of WikiProyekto followed like in the topics of history, mathematics, language, literature, etc. Previous and active projects about the Bicol Region were organized into one project through WikiProyekto Kabikolan.
