Mon Wikimedians User Group
Mon Wikimedians User Group (ဂကောံညးလွပ်ဝဳကဳမဳဒဳယာမန်) is a group of Wikimedia users which has aims to gather all Mon language users on Wikimedia, and it is working on sharing all free knowledge for all humans in Mon language through Wikimedia projects. The Mon language is an Austroasiatic language spoken by the Mon people. The Mon language is recognized indigenous language in Burma (Myanmar) as well as a recognized indigenous language of Thailand. In 2007, Mon speakers were estimated to number between 800,000 and 1 million. In Burma, the majority of Mon speakers live in Southern Burma, especially Mon State, followed by Tanintharyi Region and Kayin State. The group is open to membership by all interested individuals.

Meetups (Edit-a-thons for Wikipedia and Wiktionary)
Our meetups aim to share local and universal knowledge in Mon language by way of all kinds of free documents, to promote the use of Mon Wikipedia by encouraging its edition and reading and to increase the number and quality of articles on Mon Wikipedia.
We are working on the collection of Mon vocabularies from old and new documents and creating Mon new terms which are needed in writing new articles and translating articles from other languages mostly from English Wikipedia to Mon Wikipedia. The collected Mon vocabularies and lexemes contribute in Mon Wiktionary.

Future Plans edit
We are planning to run article writing contests to encourage Mon language users creating more articles with higher quality.
We have also a plan to collaborate with Mon National Education Committee (MNEC) which currently consists of 134 Mon National Schools in Mon area and it is the educational institution which use Mon language as one of the mediums of instruction to use Wikipedia in classrooms.

on 31 July 2022 Mon Wikimedians had a Zoom meeting and the meeting decided to set op a Mon Wikimedians User Group and apply for an official Wikimedia User Group on the Wikimedia Foundation.
