I am looking to have rights in translation adminship for the Arabic Community, as I am an active member and project coordinator for multiple projects (Wikimedians of the Levant user group, a strategic project for the Arabic Community, Wiki for Human Rights for the Arabic Community,..). Having these rights is to help the community add a translation box and to be able to translate pages from English to Arabic and to other languages. I am happy to hear from you, please ping me if I did not reply in two days.--Sandra HANBO (talk) 10:19, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- Please prepare a page for translation complying with our Internationalization guidelines. We need to ensure you well know how to add translate tags. -- Pols12 (talk) 21:37, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Pols12: thank you for your reply, please review this page: Wikimedians of the Levant/Code of Conduct. I am happy to hear your reply and learn from your experience. Best regards --Sandra HANBO (talk) 22:58, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you @Sandra Hanbo. Some issues to fix, please:
- The
<languages />
bar should be at the top of the page, above the header. - The hardcoded “left” direction should be replaced with {{dirend}} (means “left” on right-to-left language page).
- Between two paragraphs, it is useless to close the translate tag and to reopen it. Just let an empty line, that will automatically create two distinct units. For lists, we actually need to close translate tag after each item as you did well.
- We should add an empty new line after each heading so they are in their own unit. That will be able to make section links to work though translation pages.
- We should prefix targets of internal links with
Special:MyLanguage
(e.g. link to Wikimedia community code of conduct).

- Support, since the page has been mainly fixed. Note the other fixes I’ve done:
- You missed to replace “left” with {{dirend}}. It is important, because in English it has to be “right”.
- You should not split a list with empty lines, because it technically breaks the list (especially for screen readers). So, you may leave the list as a unique unit (since it is not so big), or add translate tags inside each item (as you have done for other lists).
- Please note by the way that tvar names must be unique inside their unit, not in the whole page. So, you can reuse the name “1” as soon as the tvar are in different units.
- You missed one heading (الإبلاغ عن تجاوز) to separate with an empty line.
- You haven’t prefixed link targets with Special:MyLanguage. I agree this is mainly useless since the pages are not translatable, actually it is only an anticipation (since they will probably be translatable in the future).
