Hello all! I would like to obtain the flag for my bot here on Meta, in order to put some order in Category:Proposed projects. I thought of doing it on my own, but the work here is very extensive, and I would definitely need a bot for that. Just think of merging by hand Category:Travel Guide and Category:Wikivoyage.
In short, my idea is to remove some useless categories (such as "Travel Guide", since that project has been approved), and re-distribute the currently non-categorised pages to their proper subcategories (to be created, by bot or by hand, if needed).
My bot is currently flagged as such on the Italian Wikipedia (~88900 edits), and I also ran some test edits on Wikidata. See here for the stats. Of course, I'll be more than available for questions and comments. --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 14:36, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I made a test edit. I'm using AWB, and I'm saving every edit manually. --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 10:04, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Is it actually needed/wanted to merge the named categories above? -Barras talk 11:38, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, is actually some low-importance maintainance job that nobody did until now, that is useful anyway. There are lots of proposals which no one knows about, this is also a way to keep some order in this part of Meta and to discourage the creation of duplicates. --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 13:38, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I also created {{New sister project proposal/Sandbox}} in order to substitute both {{New sister project proposal}} and {{New project proposal rejected}}. The sandbox version has also an automatic categorisation system, both for status (open/approved/rejected/closed proposals) and for topics. --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 16:47, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Support are those tasks allowed to be done by a human? Yes, so everything facilitating them should, imho, be done. --Vituzzu (talk) 12:43, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Approved - as that bot will use AWB for this task, I will approve it for the tasks. -Barras talk 13:04, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
