Template translation from en to en

How does one trigger update of the page Template:User_info/en from Template:User_info? The /en page seems to still use an older version of the main template, but when I attempt to edit it with the translation tool, it states that it's not possible tp translate from english to english. The english version subpage (/en) of a translatable page is automatically updated by FuzzyBot once a translation administrator marks the page in question for translation. This will probably happen in due time. --Sabelöga (talk) 09:18, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Done Usually a case of asking. Always can stick a {{edit protected}} on it as those things always in my top 5 of things to do on metawiki.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:36, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks - I'll remember that if it comes up again. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 01:00, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

New GRFC: Set short project namespace aliases by default globally

Hello,

I would like to point your attention to a new GRFC I just started, called Set short project namespace aliases by default globally.

Please comment on the GRFC page, and let me know if you have any questions.

{{Property|31}} found(thx!). Lexemes Template?

Hi. Thanks for showing me the {{Property|31}}(I received help after checking the revision history). Now I'd like it if there was a Lexeme transclusion template. Typing this "Template:Prope" will autocomplete to "Template:Properties" but typing "Template:Lex" will only autocomplete to "Template:Lexuesi toc" and that's not Lexemes. Are there any plans to include Lexeme transclusions or is it generally advised that I try to create a user page on Wikidata instead?(I actually asked on Wikidata previously to delete my Wikidata userpage [but that was before I discovered I had problems finding some templates I needed here] so I could use a global page, but I don't want to make anyone waste time creating a template that maybe only I will use). LotsofTheories (talk) 22:06, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

@LotsofTheories: We have had zero conversation about it at a community level, and some of us wouldn't know a lexeme if it bit us on the bum, nor how we would use them on-site <shrug> We do what needs to be done by community consensus, and if there are modules and templates that need to be brought in, then we are happy to import them. Build a list somewhere, have some discussions here or at WD about what you are trying to achieve and the ideas of the best way to do so.  — billinghurst sDrewth 23:55, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. I can ask there, see what they think. LotsofTheories (talk) 00:07, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

You do not have permission to edit pages in the CNBanner namespace." Avedon (talk) 11:11, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Machine translation: Not enough rights
On the page rus. Wikipedia now has a banner in English with agitation to translate articles for Ukraine (month of diplomacy). And the button "Help with translation" (banner). I decided to help with the translation. Translated and failed to publish - the message "Publishing translation failed: You do not have permission to edit pages in the CNBanner namespace." Why would someone mislead people - me first? What for? There are no rights and I do not care about it, and I wanted to help, but then I should not see the "Help with translation" button. The desire to help once and for all is repulsed. I definitely don't want to help translate anything for Meta anymore. => For notice of Ukraine translation banner author

Template import request

Please import the following templates. I am trying to build my global userpage on Meta, and these will be useful for me and for others in the HGAPS Usergroup.

Userboxes:

Eyoungstrom (talk) 01:33, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

I've copied over the lower ones on the list, but not the country ones. The country templates require an admin to actually Special:Import since they'll need to include all templates transcluded. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 03:14, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Pinging admins by manually adding Category:Meta protected edit requests Category:Meta protected edit requests
We don't typically have user templates like these at Metawiki due to us being a single language though translateable wiki, just more administrative burden for a much smaller administrative user set. This has usually been left to the wikis to have and to decorate locally.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:12, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Useful to know. It's a pity, since the unified userpages possible via meta are otherwise super useful. The main thing that wouldn't really work is the category tracking system. Global templates can't come soon enough! T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 00:33, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
@Evolution and evolvability: Yes and no. They are all in English, and while English is the base language, it is a multi-lingual wiki. None of us wants to have to manage the translations for all those user templates, then let alone managing the corresponding categories, especially where they are predominantly only relating to a single language. Cross-wiki it is basically the #babel that has priority, and any user can put all those statements as text, and/or use the underlying userbox template without having every rendition of userboxes here. Having a global template namespace and the underlying translations at Commons sounds ideal, as that is really where all the multilinguists visit.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:25, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
