- 5.30pm to 8.30pm - Wiki meetup in The Southern Bar, Edinburgh
About the meetupEdit
This is intended to include any interested Wikimedians who find themselves in Edinburgh or can make their way to Edinburgh on the day. Anyone who has attended previous meetups in Glasgow or Edinburgh encouraged to return to meet new faces! It will be a social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts, where we...
- Have a bite to eat and a drink.
- Chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy!
- Explore how we can encourage others to engage with Wikipedia and arrangements for future Edinburgh Wiki meetups.
This is mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians and some newbies. However this is an open invitation to anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Feel free to come along and raise these discussions!
The Southern is in easy reach of Waverley rail station and a number of bus routes. It has food (catering for V, VG & GF diets) and drinks (of an alcoholic & non-alcoholic nature) - it should be a nice place to hang out & chat. For those of you who attended the Celtic Knot conference in 2017, this was our post-event pub.
Add your name to this list if you can make it to our thirteenth meeting. Note that people of all experience levels, and all Wikimedia projects are welcome!
Please also invite any other Wikimedians in Scotland that you know (or have had wiki dealings with), or anyone who might be interested in joining us – spread the word!
Please add your Wiki Username below if you are attending:
- Sara Thomas, Scotland Programme Coordinator for WMUK
- Ewan McAndrew, Wikimedian in Residence at the University of Edinburgh.
- Roger Bamkin, Women in Red co-founder
- Delphine Dallison, Wikimedian in Residence at the Scottish Library and Information Council

Spotting us / Arrangements for arrivalEdit
I'll setup a table in the cafe for around 5.30pm which you're welcome to come join me then. I'll mark the table with something Wiki-fied!
