Test-wp pages moved

According to Brion, the test-wp pages have already been moved; the sitenotice should then be changed or removed (and the test-wp pages here deleted, by the way). — Timichal • 20:33, 11. Jun 2006

Propagation

Why is this sitenotice automatically put in all wikis with empty sitenotice? --193.86.75.124 12:53, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

In order to make Wikimedia-wide notices (like the call for candidates, which effects every project) the developers insert the required notice directy, rather than having to have an admin on every single wiki do it. To prevent overwriting a wiki's settings, there are no changes to any wiki where there is a sitenotice in place. Individual projects are encouraged to translate the notice into the wiki's native language. Essjay (Talk • Connect) 13:35, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Is it impossible to just ask before hand that we translate it on meta? For some of us the only reason we take part in Wikimedia projects is to have a site in _our_ languages. Please try to give us warning in advance. With no warning, we can't translate it before hand. Please. --16:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, the fundraiser is officially over. Replacing the sitenotice with '-' will still let the default notice show through, though; we'd need to use   or something similar. —{admin} Pathoschild 01:21, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Although the fundraiser is over, the thank you message will be staying a few more days, so this should be shown until the Foundation decide to remove that default. Angela 16:28, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Wikimania registration no longer open?

I see above that "Registration for Wikimania 2007 is open." - perhaps that is now due for replacement. Site says "On-site registration deadline: start of the conference at 2007-08-03 10:00 (UTC+8)". Robin Patterson 05:01, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I really don't think a poll about the name of a role is important enough to be in the sitenotice. A vote about the policy allowing this role would fit in the sitenotice, but a poll about a name doesn't imho. guillom 08:41, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Call for UX notice translations

The UX team wants to switch the remaining wikimedia projects to the Vector skin and the new toolbar, but we want to make sure people on these projects know we need their help with bug fixes and translations, so we changed the wording slightly on the Central Notice for this. Help us translate =)

Hello, good news! Thanks to FreedomFighterSparrow and Brion, unregistered users can now hide the sitenotice again. Previously, they were forced to see it continuously.

In all cases, please use the sitenotice with care, and keep in mind that occasional visitors see sitenotices on all their visits, if they visit less than once a month or they don't click "dismiss" and save a cookie. Nemo 15:43, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
