METU Northern Cyprus Campus Wikipedia Society
METU Northern Cyprus Campus Wikipedia Society, is a formally established student society at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus. Dedicated to promoting open knowledge, the society actively engages in Wikipedia and its sister platforms and the importance of free-licensing. We also intent to recruit new volunteers and assist inexperienced users through the guidance of experienced users. This society stands as the first student group in Cyprus focused on advancing Wikipedia and open knowledge initiatives.
The society was applied to establish in May 2023 and officially established on November 8, 2023.
Aim
editOur aim is to expand the Wikimedia community in Cyprus and promote the creation and sharing of open knowledge by focusing on themes related to Cyprus across Wikimedia projects, Wikipedia and its sister projects; we achieve this by holding regular meetings, engaging volunteers, and providing support and guidance to newcomers through the experience of our members.
