Luganda Wikipedia Quality Control


Briefly describe how your strategies and activities proposed were implemented and if any changes to what was proposed are worth highlighting?

  • This was an in person intended conclude Luganda Wikipedia Quality Control campain.
  • The activity planned was well implemented. It was a physical event at Hive Colab - Kanjokya on 18th, November, 2023.
  • 12 Volunteers attended the event and they signed on the Dashboard for Luganda Wikipedia Quality Control 1and started to participate in the campaign and 21 articles were updated/ Translated.
  • There were no changes made in the strategies and activities.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you feel are being effective in achieving your goals?

  • Yes: The approach of having a physical training is very important and works because volunteers learn as they practice and they can ably work from their homes after the training.

3. What challenges or obstacles have you encountered so far?

  • There is still a challenge of inadequate computers. They are very many people who would be willing to join the group, but they do not have computers.

4. Please describe how different communities are participating and being informed about your work.

Different communities including Teachers especially those of Luganda Language are participating. Among others are journalists who are now greatly contributing to the cause.

5. Please share reflections on how your efforts are helping to engage participants and/or build content, particularly for underrepresented groups.

7. What are the next steps and opportunities you’ll be focusing on for the second half of your work?

We plan to keep improving our Luganda Wikipedia.

9.Are you having any difficulties collecting data to measure your results?

. We had challenges with the outreach dashboard that could not display the usernames of some volunteers and their edits.

.Yes

10a. Please describe how you have already shared them and if you would like to do more sharing, and if so how?

We share Wikipedia articles that we always Translate from those projects to Luganda. GLAM also helped in teaching us how Wiki Data works.
