Kiwix/Plan 2023-2024

Here is Kiwix' Annual plan for FY2023-2024.

The overall goal is to maintain service (scrapers) and platform (readers) quality, and keep expanding our content offer - be it in its overall variety (e.g. new scrapers which are probably outside of scope for this grant as they do not pertain to Wikimedia content) and the way it is delivered, e.g. custom selections and custom apps (so-called "snackable content")

Goals and Outcomes

edit

1. Maintain the quality and availability of our content.

  • The main target this year will be to adapt to the Foundation's API changes so we can keep on scraping Wikimedia content.
  • We will keep on working on reducing mediawiki offliner's technical debt
  • The current objective of 99% wikis being updated on a monthly basis remains.

2. Maintain (or improve) ease of access to offline content

  • All platforms and dependencies are up-to-date. The expected outcome is that users have no particular issue downloading, installing and using Kiwix.

3. Expand offer so as to reach new audiences

  • Explore new subsets for snackable content
