Kenya Elections Hate Speech/Misinformation Prevention/Participate
Wikipedia is a multilingual free online encyclopedia that provides information to millions of people worldwide. Wikipedia works with a community of volunteers through open collaborations and also through a wiki-based editing system.
The Kenyan WiR fellowships focus on mobilising the regional Wikipedia editor/contributor community to monitor and detect misleading or toxic content on Wikipedia (including Wikidata and other Wiki platforms) relating to the 2022 Kenyan elections.
How Contributors Will Participate
- Creating new articles.
- Editing existing articles (i.e grammatical errors, broken links, blear images, etc).
- Adding citations.
- Adding images.
- Contributing in local languages.
How To Start
2. Watch a video on how to create a new article.
3. Sign up with your Wikipedia username to the cumulative dashboard as well as the dashboards of the Wikimedian In Residence Fellows respectively.

How To Uploads An Image
1. Sign in or Create a New Account on Wikimedia Commons.
2. Log-in into the dashboard.
3. Prepare your photos and name them.
4. Use the Upload Button to upload images.
5. Upload images using the universal category and community specific WiR category as shown in the list below:
Matrix
Tracking of the project will be done using the Programs & Events Dashboard under the Hashtag #CfAEP. The hashtag tool will enable us track contributions and edits by volunteers.

Support
The community of volunteers will be supported with monthly stipend while certificates will be handed out to all participants at the end of the campaign. The fellows will also be added to CfA’s Slack channel for future opportunities after the campaign period elapses.
