Iraqi Wikimedians (In Arabic: ويكيميديا العراق) is a dedicated user group within the Wikimedia community with a mission to support and contribute to Wikimedia projects in iraq. Established in October 2015, our primary objectives include providing support to Iraqi Wikimedians in both Arabic and Kurdish languages.
Objectives
- Expand and enhance Wikipedia articles related to Iraq, encouraging global contributors, with a focus on local participation.
- Enrich content on Iraq's heritage, environment, history, religion, and various cultural aspects.
- Provide detailed information, images, and data on religious shrines and sites across Iraq.
- Facilitate accessibility for readers and researchers to explore the diverse religious landscape in different regions.
- Utilize social media platforms to deepen understanding and appreciation for wiki projects.
- Foster an engaged community actively contributing to knowledge sharing and dissemination.
- Recruit new Wikimedians to expand the community and enrich diverse perspectives.
- Organize activities integrating Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons, including Photowalking for Commons and cataloging books in Wikidata through unpacking sessions.
