Iranian Wikimedians User Group/Introduction to Wikisource for Persian Community

On November 23rd, 2023, an online session titled Introduction to Wikisource for the Persian Community was held on Google Meet. The session began with an introduction to Wikisource, explaining how the platform works. Next, the topic of copyright in Iran was discussed, clarifying what content is in the public domain and what is not.

The instructor, Darafsh, then shared his screen to demonstrate the complete process of uploading a file to Wikimedia Commons and using it on Persian Wikisource. He also explained how to index a file on Wikisource. Afterward, the different stages of a text on Wikisource were covered, including "Problematic," "Not proofread," "Proofread," and "Validated."

Then, he explained how to use the OCR tool and the differences between Google OCR, Tesseract OCR, and Transkribus OCR. Following this, he discussed the most commonly used templates and styles in Persian Wikisource and how to apply them effectively.

The session concluded with participants asking their questions.
