International Wikinews Writing Contest/log/September 3

September 3Edit

  • Note to contestants: I, and the other US-based judges, may be less available to approve articles over the next 3 days, as this is a 3-day holiday weekend here. Don't worry, if we fall behind we will catch up next week. Your entries will be counted eventually. StuRat 12:41, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Note: I removed two users that dropped out from the list. A judge may remove this notice; I'm just posting to avoid potential controversy. Ral315 (En:WP) 06:35, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

    • I'm OUT??? I totally misunderstood the jokers then! I thought 3 jokers meant 3 days off! I thought 0 Jokes meant 0 days off, so that you had better post when you had no more jokers! I haven't posted for 3 days, so I figure that means my jokers are used up; I have no more cards up my sleave, but why does that mean I'm out?? I was going to post today and continue with the contest. Judges, please comment and clarify! Can I be reinstated if I post today?
    • Judge's comment: This rule is subject to interpretation, yes. Therefore, I'm fine with you being reinstated, so long as you post an accepted article by September 4. Other judges, what do you think ? StuRat 15:30, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
      • From how I understood the rules and from how they were explained in IRC, having zero jokers is fine.--Cspurrier 15:55, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

  • n:nl:Acht zenders verdwenen van de Vlaamse kabel
    • Judge's note: I vote to grant preliminary approval to this article, with final approval dependent on a Dutch-speaking judge approving it. It does have a problem with one source not working, but the other source works (although it does try to download a Flash player, first). StuRat 23:22, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
    • Judge's comment: I approved this article - Puckly 15:49, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
  • n:nl:Gentse winkels zitten zonder cable tuners; local follow-up including original reporting (I realise I won't get any jokers for that just yet)
    • Judge's note: I vote to grant preliminary approval to this article. I also vote to grant preliminary approval on the original reporting, as it carries the original reporting template. Two preliminary jokers granted. Final approval of both jokers is dependent on a Dutch-speaking judge approving it. StuRat 23:22, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
    • Judge's comment: I approved this article and affirm it is original reporting - Puckly 15:49, 10 September 2005 (UTC)

  • Judge's comment:This is redundant with the earlier article. That one should be reorganized instead of breaking it in two, IMO. I would welcome the opinions of other judges. StuRat 19:55, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

  • Blizzard Entertainment's victory sealed, bnetd put down in Court of Appeals My first article... ever... so I'm putting development tags rather than publish tags on them for now and if they pass a judge or someone else with more experience than I can change it, so I don't get in trouble for putting bad articles on the front page. --Dorian Gray 10:59, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
