Explain your plan

edit

Tell us about how you contribute currently, and how you would contribute if WMF were to gift a used laptop to you. Currently I am involved in editing, developing tools and all that has to do with technical areas of the projects for the movement. The sole purpose of the laptop will be to facilitate my volunteering *(only)* to the WMF projects which I currently find difficult doing with the limited resources(a five-year old laptop) which I have in possession at the moment.

Also, as observed here, I really do not want to stop contributing due to lack of a laptop. So I think the laptop will serve as a great tool for me to submit more patches as my support from the developers from Africa with little or no limitation.

Affected projects

edit

Add the existing Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Commons, etc.) and language versions that you seek to impact with this equipment.

  • MediaWiki, Wikipedia, Commons, Wikidata, Meta and all mostly in English, French and a little of Fulah and Arabic.

Work you're proud of

edit

Show us (through links) some of your best Wikimedia work, on or off wiki, to help us get a sense for the kind of work you do. (no more than 3 or 4 links at most, please.)

  1.   Support John Andersson (WMSE) (talk) 08:57, 25 September 2017 (UTC) I would like to strongly support Eugene233 request. He is a valuable contributor to the Wikispeech extension, amongst many things. I hope that with a better computer he will be able to do even more.[reply]
  2.   Support Eugune233 is a developer I have assisted in mentoring, he is also a part of a very important project called African Wikimedia Developers, a group that helps mentor new technical developers in the African community. I would hate to see him leave due to hardware issues. Zppix (talk) 20:22, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
