Grants talk:Return unused funds to WMF

Can you clarify here when it is alright to "return unused funds" by reducing the amount of a pending or future grant? 66.31.46.165 16:10, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Do you mean a grant of which you've not received funds yet? Probably, that rather falls under Grants:Index/Request_changes_to_project_budget. --Nemo 06:18, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, anonymous:
- When a grantee has unused funds from a previous grant and also has another grant approved for which funds haven't yet been sent, it makes sense to deduct the unused funds owed WMF from the next disbursement WMF owes the grantee.
- For example, if you have US$500 remaining from a previous grant (because your budget for the project was US$2000, but you only spent US$500) and have also recently had a grant approved for US$4000, WMF could send you US$3500 instead of US$4000 so that you wouldn't have to go to the trouble and expense for wiring the remaining US$500 back to WMF.
- Please note that any alternative arrangement regarding remaining funds such as applying those funds to a new grant request must always be approved in writing by WMF; in most cases you'll need to have a new grant request already approved or currently open in order to retain the unused funds until the next disbursement. I hope this is a clear explanation, but please let us know if we can clarify further.

EU/SEPA account
editNote that I've asked on 2013-05-06, and Winifred in turn asked on 2013-05-07, whether it's possible to wire funds to the EU/SEPA bank account of the WMF, and got no answer. If the answer is no, it should be explicitly written on the page (otherwise an affirmative answer is assumed in a world of reason); the page should also tell how to manage wire expenses. --Nemo 16:10, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- It was confirmed to me 10 min ago that it's possible to wire the SEPA (UK) account. Great! :) --Nemo 16:33, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- I've updated this page to show the other account information as well. Cheers, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 23:13, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
