Grant Application Received

Hello, Wikimédiens du Benin: Adoscam, Fawaz.tairou, Mah3110. Thank you for your Rapid Grant submission. We have the following comments:

  1. In your Wiki Loves Africa report, you mentioned that you could improve your work by trying to interest more professional photographers. We think the outreach events portion of your initiative will help, but we wanted to ask about the ways you plan to reach the photographers. How are you advertising the contest? Are there photography communities you are already in contact with, or that you could contact in the coming days? What are they?
  2. You mentioned also that you wanted to organize more uploading sessions, which we can see was added to the outreach event ideas. You also mentioned that you wanted to do at least 2 editathons. Do you think this is something that could work well, for example, within the awards ceremony? How can you ensure that the photos that will get uploaded get incorporated into other projects like Wikipedia?
  3. You did a great job with your Wiki Loves Africa report; this time we want to highlight two contest reports that could help improve the reporting on this Wiki Love Earth grant: Wiki Loves Monuments Algeria 2018 and Wiki Loves Earth Nepal 2018.

edit

Hello and thank you for your interest in our project financing submission

  1. POINT 1: We are already in contact with about a dozen of photographers including three from from Wiki Loves Africa Bénin contest jury.

Plus, we are recruiting new photographers through our social media chanels and from journalists and photographers schools in Bénin. Currently about 10 phtographers have confirmed and we expect to recruit more before the launch.

  1. POINT 2: we will raise the awareness of the competition through our various association groups with whom we are in contact, with journalists, proximity radio stations through short programs. We will also use our various digital channels (Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc.). We also have more than 50 volunteer contributors who are our relay of information to recruit new contributors for the Wiki Loves Earth 2019 contest.

The two editathons will allow us to present to the public what is Wikipedia and its project brothers especially how to contribute and participate in Wiki Loves Earth 2019 competition. We will give participants the concepts of taking photos, how to upload them to common. We will also learn how to contribute on Wikipedia and illustrate articles through photos uploaded to Commons. The award ceremony will be organized with the participation of all competitors in this competition and other guests will also be present. It will be held either in Cotonou at Institut Français du Benin or in Abomey-Calavi.

  1. POINT3: Thank you for sharing. We will have a look and improve next reports

We thank you for your support and reassure you of our commitment as was the case with Wiki Loves Earth 2019, to make this contest Wiki Loves Earth 2019 1st edition in Benin a total success.--Adoscam (talk) 16:04, 15 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
