Report accepted edit

Hello Fawaz.tairou, thank you so much for submitting this final report. It is great to see that despite some challenges due to COVID-19, the Wiki Loves Africa contest in Benin went successfully. Thank you so much for the efforts you’ve put into organizing the contest and related events. I’m sorry for the cancellation of the closing ceremony and some other activities. However, it is exciting that you have modified some activities organizing them exclusively online. I have reviewed your report and have some questions and comments that I would like you to respond to:

  • Could you please link the categories of all and winning photos from Wiki Loves Africa in Benin to the report page?
  • You’ve mentioned that you had used 309 photos on different Wikimedia projects. Did you organize special activities to increase the usage of images or this has been done during the upload sessions and editathons?
  • In the report, you’ve also mentioned that the visibility of Wikimedia projects had been increased due to media participation. How the media impacted on the visibility? Have you somehow measured this impact?
  • One of your learnings is that you would like to attract more professional photographers for the future WLA contests. Have you already thought about the possible ways you will be doing this?

Thank you again for your contributions to the WLA campaign and Wikimedia projects. I am accepting the final report and expense documents for this project. This grant is now complete. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:08, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dear DSaroyan (WMF),
Thanks for your review and support. Please find my answers below.
  • I've added links to the categories of all and winning photos from Wiki Loves Africa in Benin to the report page.
  • We did not organize special activities to increase the usage of images; this has been done during the upload sessions and meditation. Some images are also used by other people beside our editathons, in different languages.
  • Media impacted on the visibility by publishing articles and banners on their websites. They've also published links in their social media groups (Whatsapp and Telegram). We've only got statistics about the articles published on their websites, nothing measurable about the sharing on social media.
  • Yes, we've started trying to attract more professional photographers for WLA contests after our first edition, in 2019. Indeed, during the 2019 contest, we only got 2 professional photographers. This year, we have at least 4. We encourage them to inform their other colleagues and friends. They are added to our social media groups in order to keep them in touch and informed.
On behalf of Wikimédiens du Bénin User Group, I'd like to thank you and all the team for your help and support. Best regards, --Fawaz.tairou (talk) 04:05, 3 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
