Moved to draft edit

Hello Okhsg, thank you for submitting this Rapid Grant request. However, for a number of reasons described below, we currently cannot move forward with this proposal. I’m moving it back to “Draft” status but feel free to resubmitted this request when you resolve all of these issues:

  • We currently do not fund any projects with offline gatherings and activities given the WMF’s and grant programs’ response to the global pandemic. You would need to modify your project, so that no in-person meetings are being organized.
  • There are only a limited number of cases when we fund compensation for people’s time. Specifically, we cannot fund any fees for workshop leaders and presenters, as well as translation costs, and per diems for participants.

All issues corrected - budget reduced. Workshop is done by me as WiR. --Zblace (talk) 08:25, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Comments from WMF edit

Hello Zblace and Okhsg, thank you for resubmitting this proposal. We have reviewed it and have the following questions and comments.

Zblace: OK - hope you do not that I was inline editing-in answers to your questions in Italics
  • Since Zblace’s engagement as a WiR is not what we typically have in Wikimedian in Residence programs, we would like to better understand the roles and responsibilities of the WiR and hosting institution:
    • What activities the WiR will carry out in terms of this project in comparison to the grantee? How long will Zblace's engagement be as a WiR?
      • True. I am _officially_ with GKR.hr library but as first and only WiR in the country I planned to do multiple GLAM networking and practical activities (including bootstraping initial work with other institutions). I will work in preparation of the event on all Wiki specific activities. In terms of time - likely few days in preparation in August-September and few hours in October.
    • What the library and its staff members will be doing aside from some promotional activities?
      • Administration of grant, communication to jury members, organizing production of materials, gifts and commissioning work like translation.
  • Could you please give more details about the amount of materials to be translated? In some cases, when this amount is substantial, you can request to compensate for the translation expenses.
    • From quick overview on Meta and Outreach wiki there seems to be almost no pages translated into Croatian. This is an issue as language used is often very technical so average GLAM professional that does not work internationally would struggle understanding existing documentation and instructions. Mandalena who is directing OkHsG library also speaks just basic to intermediate English.
  • Please specify the grant start date in the probox allowing some time for grant processing.
    • done...hope this is OK

I will look forward to hearing from you! Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 12:02, 3 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The sooner the batter as September 1st is target for activities. --Zblace (talk) 13:13, 3 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Zblace, thanks for your responses. Since the amount to be translated is substantial, please feel free to add translation budget. If you choose to add this item to your budget, please also add the pages which will be translated into Croatian. This list don't need to be a comprehensive one, only some examples or the most important pages will be sufficient. After you make these updates to your budget, we'll move forward and approve this grant request. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:10, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
OK - thank you for input! Added now. --Zblace (talk) 11:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Zblace, thanks for responding to my questions. We have approved this grant request. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:13, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

later start in promotion and competition part edit

We have been working on preparations, but due to changes in WLM 2020 timeline (more flexibility) https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020/Organise#2020_Timeline and tentative collision with national campaign, we decided to to move our campaign and competitive activities after they are finished in September for to do ours in October and November. This is also in coordination with international WLM organizer team. Hope this is fine with WMF Rapid Grants team also (it does fit flexibility of the grant). --Zblace (talk) 08:49, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the notice, I have updated our internal records as well. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:56, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

2021 update edit

Due to issues with WikiLovesMonuments (exclusively national and with previous organizers of HR) in 2020 we moved the concept away from exclusively this brand and national focus into more general work with Wiki Loves campaigns, but with more regional focus on Dalmatia and Kvarner. In case this and other campaigns permit regional adaptations we will collaborate with them in 2021. -- Zblace (talk) 12:10, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
