Hello Joy Agyepong, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant request. We are excited that you are planning to run a Wiki4Climate edit-a-thon in Ghana. I have reviewed your proposal and while I don't have any concerns around the activities, I do have some questions around the budget.

  • Data scholarship - participants who have a need for data support (USD300)
  • Could you please add for how many participants this cost is intended?
  • Administrative support - for facilitators and coordinators for all the edit-a-thons (USD500)
  • Please remove this expense from your budget. Per the Rapid Grant guidelines you cannot cover compensations for facilitators and coordinators.
  • Jury - This comprises of (3) team jury for activist experts who will screen contributions to get winners (USD300)
  • Evaluation meeting and resources assessment meeting for the team (USD200)
  • Could you please explain what will these two expense items cover?

And one additional question about your project:

  • I noticed that you are affiliated with Open Foundation West Africa. Are you applying for this grant on behalf of this organization?

Thank you, looking forward to your responses. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 15:06, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thank you for the swift review. Please find answers to your questions below:

  • Data scholarship - This will be approximately $10 each for an estimation of 25 participants. However, an extra $50 has been set aside to take care of any extra support for increased participation and transfer charges. Hence $10*25= $250 + $50 (Thus $300)
  • Administrative support - This was included because facilitators and coordinators were not factored into the data support. Also, this was intended to support their time and preparations for the series of online trainings during the entire period of the virtual event. (It has been taken off as requested)
  • Jury - This is meant to take care of Jury time, data/gift and efforts of activists and wikim(p)edians who will review and identify winners during the whole week immediately after the end of the contest.
  • Evaluation meeting - This will serve as an information synthesis that is the meeting of the team to synthesise information for the report. The cost here is for only securing a place and provide food for the working meeting. This can replace the Administrative support if approved.
  • I am affiliated to (3) groups which includes Open Foundation West Africa, however this request is an individual one which stems from my affiliation with the Wikimedians for Sustainable Development User Group.

I hope these answers your questions. Regards Joy Agyepong (talk)

Hello Joy Agyepong, thanks for your response, I have some additional comments:
  • Could you please add the details of these expenses to the proposal page?
  • Administrative support - You cannot support facilitators' and coordinators' time, but you can cover their internet connection costs. You can add an expense for their Internet expenses.
  • Jury - Unfortunately, you are not allowed to support jury's time either, please reduce this expense leaving only costs for Internet connection and gifts.
  • Evaluation meeting - Could you please rename this to "Space rental" and "Food", or add the clarifications next to the expense item?
