Grants talk:Project/Rapid/UG GR/Wiki Loves Monuments in Greece 2019
Comments from WMF
editHello, Geraki, Magioladitis and MARKELLOS; thank you for submitting this grant request and for your work organizing WLM in Greece. We have received more requests than we originally anticipated; as a way to ensure that the WLM budget reaches the highest number of organizers, we have decided to ask all organizing teams to adjust their budget to under 1000 USD. We would have done this since the beginning if we had known the number of applicants, but we needed to wait a few days to see how much interest there would be in the contest.
Taking a look at your budget, I can think of the following possibilities:
- Reducing the top prizes (say, 300-200-100) - Making a decision about the ceremony budget: is an awards ceremony the best way you can use the rest of the money you could have after prizes (about 300 USD)? We cannot fund travel costs anymore (see the current funding guidelines), so you would have that complication, too, if the top winners were outside of your city.
Please take a look at your budget and prioritize the things you'd like these 1000 USD to cover; maybe you'll want to use all of it for prizes, or maybe you want to cut some of the prizes to do a ceremony as well. Please ping me when you have updated your budget. Regards, MMontes (WMF) (talk) 02:55, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

editHello, Geraki, Magioladitis and MARKELLOS; thank you for adjusting your budget. We are approving your grant request.
In previous contest reports, you mentioned that you wanted to do outreach to more photo organizations to spread the word about your contest. Given that you don't know yet if you will be organizing an event associated with the contest, can you please share more details on the ways you will promote the contest and prizes among potentially interested photographers?
We are looking forward to Greece's contributions to WLM! Regards, MMontes (WMF) (talk) 00:35, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
