Hi Nan deko, and thanks for your proposal for this awareness-building work through the development of a video. Here are my comments:

  • While this sort of work in awareness building is valuable, this particular proposal is missing some important details that would be necessary to make a funding decision. Specifically, the following information in the grant proposal is needed:
    • More specific information about the planned video content. How many to do you intend to make? What is the overall message or theme of these videos that you want viewers to understand? What data or infographics will you be using?
    • More specific information about the schedule for the project. How often will you meet? What are the main tasks that need to be done for the project, and roughly how long will they take? You've noted that the project will take roughly a month to complete. Is that enough time?
    • More information about how the video will be distributed. Which Facebook page and YouTube channel are you referring to? The Wikimedia Foundation does have a YouTube channel, but have you contacted our Communications team to ask whether it would be possible to arrange distribution of your video through the YouTube Channel?
    • In terms of the outcomes you wish to make with these videos, more information is needed. How many people do you think these videos will reach? How will you know if you have successfully raised awareness of Wikipedia content? What will you use to measure visitors of the Arabic Wikipedia mainpage and whether you have more new editors contributing to Arabic content as a result of this project? I would think carefully about the goals set for this project, as perhaps bringing in new editors may not be a necessary goal.
    • I'm glad you are thinking about the skills needed to make this project successful, but we will require you to specify how much funding will be allocated toward these roles you've described.
  • In terms of equipment, Rapid Grants generally cannot be used to purchase new equipment unless there is a plan and established system to share it with contributors in your community. We do allow equipment to be rented, however. Will that be possible?

I realize this is a lot to consider and respond to, but I think it is important to do so in order to make it likely that this project will be successful. For now, I am going to move this proposal back to draft for the time being. When these questions have been addressed, please feel free to move the status of the project to proposed for further review. If you need help thinking about how to respond to some of these questions, let me know and I can provide some guidance. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:41, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Chris "Jethro" Schilling, How are you? I hope you are fine. I'm sorry for my late reply, but I had a rough time in delivering projects in my company. I found a message in the proposal's discussion from you asking about required points. It's a very important points, but I don't know how can I post it in the propsal, as the form is very poor if I want to put the required data. this is the answers, read it please and let me knew of your opinion.

The video will target the Arabic community: encourage people to browsing Wikipedia and new editors to join Wikipedia. The message of video is how we have many things gather us like one history and one future. Wikipedia tell you about your history and reach with you to future. The target countries is (Saudi Arabia represent Eastern area- Morocco and Tunisia represent Western Area- Egypt represent the middle)

The idea is take advantage of reaching these countries to FIFA world cup and make video connecting this event to Wikipedia. The overall message is making inspiring video to encourage Arabic people viewing editing Wikipedia.

We (me and the team, which I will hire) will create an advertising one video. A real acting video. We will create a high quality and inspiring video with the legal usage of materials and creative commons copyrights.

This is a translation summary of the video script:

Second between reaching our dream

Photomontage (live video from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt)

We only have one life Learn from your past… to decorate (enhance) your present … Enhance your future

Wikipedia gives you the past and connect you to present

In addition, it depends on you to create Future.

The timeline of making the video will be 30 days:

· 7 days to gather resources, making the storyboard and the scenario, video casting, arrangement (the places and instruments).

· 7 days to shooting.

· 7 days for revision and editing.

· 7days for rendering and final edits

· 2 days for Emergency cases.

About charts and publishing the video:

I talked to Jack Rabah (Head of Strategic Partnerships - Middle East & Africa) he will provide me with data I need, and If you can provide me with some data, charts and information about the current statics, like (awareness of Wikipedia in Arabic countries), I will be so grateful. Of course, I need to contact the admins of Wiki YouTube channel, Facebook and the other social media platforms, but I do not have their Emails. However, I think publishing the video is next phase after creating it, so we have to set the method and start it after creating the video.

About requirements: I will need to:

Hire a talented voice over persons for narration.

Hire a talented Director, cinematographer.

Hire a talented after effect Animator.

Hire three cameras: two HQ cameras, one drone camera.

Hire actors for video characters.

If the foundation wants to bay some equipment to use it in creating videos, we can make it later through another proposal.

About the funds: I changed the required funds due to the current change.

Waiting your reply thanks--Nan deko (talk) 10:06, 10 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not funded edit

Hello Nan deko, thank you for providing responses to I JethroBT (WMF)'s questions and comments. Unfortunately, at this time we are not able to fund your project for the following reasons:

  1. You have multiple areas that you're hoping to reach with this project which makes the budget unrealistic for the size of audience you're trying to reach. In the future we recommend having a targeted small audience for a rapid grant budget.
  2. You have listed quite a few talent hires in your project but didn't provide a budget breakdown of how much it would take to hire each of these individuals. In our experience that usually takes a much higher budget than $2000.
  3. Lastly, while we appreciate the timeline breakdown there is no background of how you anticipate 7 days each for the project to be completed.

Thank you again for submitting a grant request and we hope to work with you in the future on other proposals. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 15:25, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
