Hello Pheritenom, welcome to Wikimedia Foundation grants! We are glad to learn about your project and proposed activities. I have reviewed the application and have a few questions that I’d like you to respond to:

  • Have you already prepared a list of articles that you will provide participants to edit?
  • How will you track participants' contributions? Are you planning to create a project page?
  • Could you please provide more information about your audience? Who will be invited to participate in the event?
  • Do you have any past experience in leading or running similar events?
  • You mentioned two other experienced Wikimedians who will be supporting you. Could you please specify who will be leading the training sessions?
• Please share the Risk Assessment document with us. Additionally, change the sharing options, so that it is accessible to everyone with the link.
  • You mentioned that you had spoken to Drug Free Advocates in Ilorin. Could you provide more information about who they are and how they will support you? We would like to learn more about the nature of these partnerships.
  • Lastly, please provide the links to on-wiki pages where you have informed your Wikimedia community about the proposed work and grant.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:32, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thanks for your comment and review after reading about my project. Below are responses to your observation accordingly to the order of presentation:

  • No, not yet. I am still on the research on related articles on Drugs and Drug trafficking on Wikipedia.
  • Track participants by creating an outreach dashboard. Yes, I will set up a project page.
  • The audience target is drug advocates in Ilorin/Kwara. The students' community in Ilorin and Kwara state can be invited.
  • Yes, I have been an assistant in coordinating similar events with the Wikimedia fan club at the University of Ilorin.
  • Bilijin, The Lead, Wikimedia Fan Club, University of Ilorin shall be Leading the training session.
  • I am so sorry about the inconvenience this could have caused. The Risk Assessment document is now accessible to all that have the link below, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1f2mSxObwW9HEFL8ot6VjfF44jQoM7lRFSuuwKcCW85w/edit?usp=sharing
  • Drug free advocates in Ilorin is a registered group of youth whose main goal is to have a drug free world. They organize talks and seminars as a medium to spreading the Drug free world message. An agreement had been meant to sending an expert on their field to orientate the participants on Drugs and possible ways of addressing this global challenge
  • The proposal has been announced on this pages: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_User_Group_Nigeria, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Nigeria

Additional question

edit

Hello Pheritenom, thanks for your response. One last question that we have is about editing medical topics on English Wikipedia. Do you have someone in the team who are experienced in editing medical topics on English Wikipedia? Could you please confirm that you have reviewed the following guidelines on English Wikipedia?

Response to Additional question

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thanks for your response and effort in making the project a success. To answer your enquire, I have been opportune to be exposed to the writing of short journals on drug-related topics through my over six years experience as a drug free advocate. Having read through the guidelines sent. I have been able to have a pharmacist on the team who will assist in enforcing a wiki acceptable article. Hello DSaroyan (WMF)

It hurts that we do not have anyone despite checking around the Nigerian community for a week. I can be very certain that experienced editors like Bilijin and Timmylegend whom I already have on board will be able to interface with the project seamlessly as the principles behind various Wikiprojects are interoperable. Thank you, Pheritenom (talk) 16:42, 13 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
