Hello James Moore200, thanks for submitting this Rapid Fund request. We have completed the initial review of the application, and we have a few questions and comments:

  • What sessions on capacity building and development do you plan to organize? Do you have a schedule for Day 1? How will you take into consideration the needs of potential participants when inviting speakers and getting prepared for Day 1?
  • How many experienced editors will you have during the Wikidata celebration (Day 2)?
  • I recommend giving up the idea of offering certificates to "top Wikidata" editors. Firstly, I think that determining who is a "top" editor is not easy and can be biased. Secondly, it would be better if during the Wikidata Birthday celebration, every contributor of Wikidata is equally appreciated. That's why, my recommendation would be to offer certificates of appreciation to all Wikidata contributors or active event participants. What do you think?
  • Are there any other ways you plan to follow up with the participants?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:42, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

My Response

Dearest DSaroyan (WMF),

Thank you for your time and the comments. Kindly check my responses inthe paragraphs below:

  • The capacity building session will focus on getting participants acquainted with the general rules and procedures for creating wikidata items as well as tools available at their disposal for use.
  • Yes, we will have a schedule and this includes the workshop on creating items on wikidata. The list of trainers/facilitators are on project grant Giving presentation slots to minimum of 3 Wikidata Projects that have been carried out this year in KWARA and their impact. Opening remark will be made by Jamie Tubers.
  • In terms of the participants all will be done to ensure that COVID-19 protocols are in place. Participants will be given nosemasks and sanitizer before entry into the event. Furthermore, we have experienced Wikimedians in the organizing team for the event.
  • Day 2 will similar experience of what we had during the Wikipedia20 Ilorin event, a dinner party to celebrate the birthday.
  • On your final suggestion, that sounds great. We will be glad to make it a general certificate of appreciation as you have suggested. It will be shared during the Wikidata celebration to appreciate everyone's contribution.
  • Follow up will be via our communication WhatApp channels for Ilorin Wikimedians.
  • Do not hesitate to reach out to me for any further clarification.

Thanks once again for your time.

Best regards,

James Moore200 (talk) 22:12, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Additional Response

edit

The proposed Wikidata Birthday celebration is mainly organized for experienced Editors, only few editors that will be given slots.

We are opening the application for 50 people on both days.

We are not restricting it to day one or two alternatively. A follow up on registered participants will also be done.

Thank you for your time once again.

Best regards,

Request for Additional Funds

edit

Hello DSaroyan (WMF),

Thank you for the approval of the Wikidata 9th Anniversary in Kwara again.

I would like to draw your attention to an error I made during my financial calculation. I noticed it while revisiting the grant page.

I omitted the two items at the top (first category) which included Conference Room/Hall and Roll up banner and designs. It was an oversight sincerely.

Besides, the calculation for the day 1 food was also miscalculated.

After making a new calculation of the same budget penned down, I observed the total amount was different from the approved $2350.

The actual total amount is $2,720. Which makes the approved amount $370 less than the total.

The budget would have been adjusted due to the plannings made for this project removing the two items will greatly affect our plans.

Once again, I admit that this mistake was an oversight.

I look forward to your favourable response.

Thank you in anticipation of your hearing from you.

Best regards,

James Moore200 (talk) 08:12, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
