Hello Godstime Elijah, thanks for submitting this grant application. We have completed the initial review and we have have some questions and requests for you:

Activities
  • Is this project a follow-up to Wikipedia Promotion Campaign to Ilorin Corpers?
  • Do you expect to have new participants or all participants will be from your last project?
  • Are there any lessons learned from your last project that you will be using this time? Do you have any other ideas on how you can retain and train participants?
  • How would you mentor the event participants to ensure their continuous editing of Wikipedia and its sister project after the event? This is a really important question and we need a detailed response.
Budget
  • We think that for a 2-day event, internet support should be 30 USD per facilitator. Please update this expense.
  • Similarly, please reduce the internet support expenses to 150 USD.
  • Given the project scope, we recommend renting a training hall and not an event hall. Please reduce the space rental expense to 100-150 USD.
  • We will only fund 200 USD for either gift vouchers or souvenirs.
  • Since this is not a photography-focused event we don't think that a professional photo camera is needed. Please use a smartphone to take a few photos from the event.
  • Please reduce the contingency expenses to 50 USD.
  • 'Promotions and branding' - you have already requested and created banners for your last similar event. I don't understand what's the need of recreating them each time. Please remove 'Offline ( banners, posters etc)' from the budget.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:36, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for your response.

For the first question. Yes the event is a follow up to Wikipedia Promotion Campaign to Ilorin Corpers.

The training and Edit-A-Thon will comprise of participants from the previous project and some new participants.

From the previous project the feedback I got was that it was a bit overwhelming since we did train them on Wikipedia and Wikidata combined but in this case we're going to limit our focus to Wikipedia alone. In terms of terms of retaining I believe that will not be an issue as we been in contact with them and our team has been on hand to answer questions and giving guidance and help and record progress in that as their skill level has seen significant improvement. We do not just limit them to Wikipedia because we understand that different people have different interest with some settling for other projects such as Wikidata and Wikivoyage and we do all we can to build on their strengths. This is done through referring them for trainings organized by other Wikimedians within Wikipedia and sister projects and also encouraging them to join contests that will keep them engaged.

On that of the budget yes the training is for two days but the Edit-A-Thon is to last for a period of two weeks so we can't really do much in that aspect of the data but in other areas we have removed the expenses for camera, offline promotion and made some other changes too in the budget.
