Hello Fatawu25, thanks for submitting a new grant request. We are glad to see that the Dallung Wikimedians Community is growing. I have a few questions and requests after reviewing the grant proposal:

  • Firstly, please share the Risk assessment document and community doc with us.
  • Could you please elaborate on how you plan to work on Wikipedia and Wikidata? Do you have a specific topic to edit? Do you plan to prepare a list of articles to edit? How do you plan to track participants' contributions?
  • Do you think covering three Wikimedia projects in three days would be enough for the participants to master them? Won't it be confusing for newcomers?
  • Do you plan to mentor participants after the project completion? If yes, how will the mentorship look like?
  • I also request to provide more information about the photowalks. What are the locations? Could you provide a list of objects that you plan to photograph? How will you make sure that there are now duplicate photos and that 50% of images are used?
  • Could you please revise the impact section? I think some targets need to be corrected:
    • Number of events - should include all events, including photowalks
    • Number of participants - please also add the total number of participants from your all activities.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:55, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Davit, Thank you for your observation, recommendations and questions. Below are responses to the questions:

  • I have shared the Risk assessment document and community document.
  • We will be working on communities within the Kumbungu district in the northern part of Ghana by documenting them on Wikidata, Dagbani Wikipedia and Wikimedia commons. The list of communities that will be worked on is hyperlinked in the application page. I will create event dashboard and use Widata, Dagbani Wikipedia and Wikimedia commons as the tracking wikis.
  • Most of the participants have an appreciable level of experience on Wikidata and Dagbani Wikipedia as well as Wikimedia commons. The trick I use in having all participants at par is by engaging with newcomers one-on-one and solve their individual issues that may arise after the scheduled training sessions. I will also assign some newcomers to experienced ones to support them in case they have issues to solve after training sessions. I will also engage them on the community WhatsApp group.
  • I will continue to work with community members on the various Wikipedia projects by in-person and through the community WhatsApp group.
  • The photowalks will take place within the communities of Kumbungu district. We will take photos of objects/locations that relate to the various communities which will thereafter be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and also be used on Wikidata and Dagbani Wikipedia as images to their corresponding communities. Participants will be dispatched to the various communities to take photos, moving in groups will not be countenanced in order to prevent duplicate photos. The uploading will be done in group session and individual monitoring will be conducted to make sure the 50% target is achieved.
  • The targets are corrected in the application page. Fatawu25 (talk) 13:41, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
