Hi Edriiic, thank you for submitting your grant application. I have some questions to learn more about the grant proposal and planned activities.

  • Do you think that training 50 participants in a single event is possible?
  • How would you follow up with participants who are interested in?
  • What's the training / awareness plan? Do you have relevant awareness experience?
  • How long will an awareness training last? What's the rationale behind offering food to participants?
  • Since your plan is to work with youth / children, there you need to follow the Youth Safety criteria and demonstrate that you will follow it by responding to the points in your application. We will not be able to move forward with the application if its not reflected on your application.
  • Have you accounted for any potential risks? How will you mitigate these risks?
  • Do you have support from your community members to organize this project? Please notify your community members in advance as described in question #4.
  • Is this project organized with the LASU wiki fan club community? Are you a leader of the LASU wiki fan club? How is your group organized or managed?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for your time, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 13:14, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Response from Edriiic edit

Thanks @DSaroyan (WMF): for the feedback. Below are my responses to your questions;

  • Yes, it is possible. The training in a school will all happen in a day but with different sessions. There will be a morning session and an afternoon session. Following the discussion, I have had with the school to maximize the use of time, and at the same time have a population ratio where information can be easily and efficiently communicated to the participants during each session.
  • The students captured during the promotion outreach will be onboarded to a WhatsApp group where experienced Wikimedia editors will also be added for mentorship, and the school principal and their teachers will also be added for supervision. This is essential as this makes them aware of the possibilities of their University having a Fan club, and ways of becoming a volunteer.
  • Yes, I have relevant awareness experience. As the previous Event coordinator of LASU fan club I have done various awareness projects for the registration of new students, also as the project lead for Nigeria Transportation and recreation Expedition and Nigerian Cuisine, and facilitator for Wiki Festival, I have had to promote each project both offline and online.
The training/awareness, Since this project is centered on the promotion of the Wikimedia project as a reliable source of information for academic research. The student will be introduced to the Wikimedia project such as Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikispecies, and Wikivoyage as a reliable source of information when doing their research.
  • Each session will last for 4hrs. The school hours for students here in Nigeria are 8 am-4 pm. There is no food being offered, it’s more of a tea break which is why I indicated drinks, water, and snacks.
  • The potential risk was the issue of social distancing due to COVID-19. But I have safety measures in place such as the compulsory use of face masks during the event and hand sanitizers upon entry into the event hall located within the school premises.
  • Yes I have spoken to some community members to bring their suggestions to the project which they gladly did. And I have support from the community members.
  • No, it’s not organized with the LASU wiki fan club. I am an alumnus of the fan club. I held the position of Even Co-Ordinator during my undergraduate years at Lagos State University.
