Hello Dolphyb and thanks again for submitting this Rapid Fund proposal. I have a few questions and recommendations after reviewing your application.

  • Given the scope of this project and its impact, we will be glad to support it:
    • For only two photographers (participants).
    • For only 6 different locations. Select the most important locations.
  • If you agree, please update your budget and project plan accordingly.
  • Additionally, please provide the list of articles you would like to illustrate with the photowalk images.
  • Please confirm that you will make sure that categories, description, structured data, and other details of the images will be completed properly.
  • Please consider taking more than one photo for each geographical object you plan to photograph. Revise your targets accordingly.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:41, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi DSaroyan, thank you for your response to my grant proposal. The huge knowledge gap on this subject is due to low presence from imo State in the past and hence imo State is one state among other south eastern states in Nigeria that has low visibility and huge knowledge gap on Wikipedia due to little or no presence to take up this gap and this is why we thought beyond 6 locations proposed by you. Going for only 6 locations will not make an impact given the knowledge gap (absence of remaining rivers) in existence. Having these images in wikimedia Commons is a way to create motivation for community members to write on these articles during future edit-a-thons.

As requested by you, we will take more than one photo for each geographical object we plan to photograph and ensure that categories, description, structured data and other details of the images will be completed properly. Dolphyb (talk) 09:35, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Additional comments edit

Hello Dolphyb, thanks for your comments. I have some additional comments:

  • I understand that you think that traveling to 6 locations would not make an impact. In this case, I would request to take not only images of the rivers but also other geographical/natural/cultural objects that you will be seeing during the photowalks (I'm sure there'll be lots of other interesting objects in the Imo State!). Do you think that it will be feasible? This way, I think we will broaden the project scope and increase the impact.
  • In my opinion, the impact would be also higher if you travel to a few locations but organize follow-up activities to use these images on Wikimedia projects and create/improve missing pages.
  • You haven't responded to one of my requests: Please provide the list of articles you would like to illustrate with the photowalk images.
  • Additionally, I request to provide the list of locations you plan to travel for the photowalks.
  • Since you mentioned there will be no Wikipedia articles for most of the objects, I would like to understand your plans of creating these articles in the future.

Hi DSaroyan, Thank you once again for your response. I share in your thoughts and would go with traveling to 8 locations that has existing articles on en-wikipedia found here(Otamiri River,Nworie River,Oguta Lake,Awbana River,Orashi River,Imo River,Njaba River,Oramiriukwa River).

These locations includes Egbu in owerri, mgbidi,Ezeama Dikenafai, Oguta,Njaba,Abba isu Nwangele,Umuna imo State to Ikea East,Abia and Amakohia owerri. Because of the distance between these locations found in different local government areas in imo state, my place of residence and the need to include geographical, natural and cultural objects during the Photowalk as advised by you.The need for Accomodation has been identified and included. Subsequently, I will still like to cover some of other 43 rivers and Lakes after working on this 8. I will approach it by taking them 8 at a time or thereabout after ensuring I have created the articles for each I will work on. Dolphyb (talk) 21:02, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
