Hi ChabbieCee, thanks for submitting this grant proposal. We are glad to learn that you plan to join the SheSaid campaign from Zimbabwe! I have a some questions and requests after reviewing your application. Kindly address them all:

  • Could you please confirm that there is no overlap between yours and this grant projects?
  • For how many participants do you plan to cover the internet costs?
  • How many T-shirts and small gifts do you want to offer?
  • We think that the contingency amount is high. Kindly reduce it by half and update the total requested budget.
  • We now require all grantees to announce their projects and receive the Wikimedia community feedback in advance. Could you please announce this project and grant on the relevant community pages on the target wikis? Community notification may be most appropriate on a village pump, talk page, or mailing list. Please paste a link into the proposal page to where the relevant communities have been notified of this proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 15:20, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hie David Saroyan,

Thank you for your response to my grant proposal and all the guidelines. To answer your question the overlap of projects between me and Sichelesile. Sichelesile and me are both in Zimbabwe but we are in two very different regions such that there will be no overlap as we will draw participants from our different local communities. The current reality (economic stress, COVID, etc.) in Zimbabwe does not easily facilitate travel or cross province collaboration. And for the moment, while we will be collaborating and working together within the Wiki Loves Women Focus Group, the community and events will be separate.

The internet costs will cover for the forty participants and the facilitators.

There will be four branded T-shirts for the facilitators of each of the 3 training events which will include branded caps and facemasks bearing the theme of the training session. This means we will have three different themes for the 3 training sessions. The same T=shirts will be used for the editathons that will follow the training workshops. The small gifts will be given to all participants to encourage them to participate in future Wiki Loves Women events.

Zimbabwe has not had a formalised Wiki User Group for the past years hence this effort to try and create a formal user group to create Zimbabwean content. Some pages were created in attempts to add content about Zimbabwe and the yester=year Rhodesia but the projects were not continued after sometime and will try to revive and involve them in the new intended Wiki projects.
