Hello Praxis2020, thank you for submitting this rapid grant request and for organizing an Art + Feminism event in San Diego! I have reviewed your proposal and have one question regarding the experienced editors.

  • You have mentioned that you have two lead co-organizers who will assist participants at the events. Would you please share their Wikimedia usernames? In addition, have you been able to reach out to local experienced editors to support you in guiding newcomers? Could you please share their usernames as well?

Thank you again for your contributions to the Wikimedia Movement. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:00, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thank you for your question! I am co-leading the first event with Daniella Kelly at the Athenaeum Art Center. My username is Praxis2020. I am admittedly still new at editing, and am reaching out to the local editing groups here in San Diego (like WikiProject San Diego) to see if a couple of people with more experience can help with training and assisting. I am also contacting organizations (like the Museum of Contemporary Art, UCSD, Scripps Institute) that held Art+Feminism events last year to see if they might connect me to the trainers/editors who participated in their events. From the constituents I've talked to, there is a lot of interest locally for this edit-a-thon event, so I am eager to connect with experienced editors who will help make these events a success. 66.75.225.244 17:05, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Praxis2020, thanks for your response! We cannot fund this request until we can see that there are confirmed experienced editors able to support the participants at your event. Did any of the experienced editors you've reached out confirm its participation in this event? I suggest to also reach out to San Diego Wikimedians User Group, to see if there are experienced editors available to support you. Once you have confirmed editors, please share their usernames on the proposal page. We need to get confirmation by 18 February 2020, otherwise we will have to mark this request as not eligible. Hi again! I have reached out to RightCowLeftCoast and a couple of the other lead participants in the WikiSocal Meetup group to ask for their guidance/participation but have not heard back from them yet. I also plan to attend the March 7 editathon event that the San Diego Wikimedians User Group is planning to get a better sense of how these events are run. If I do not hear from anyone today I will attempt to reach out to more local users. Thank you for your comments and continuing guidance. We want to make this event happen! Hello Praxis2020, I am moving your proposal to draft since I have not heard back from you regarding the experienced editors. I am inviting to change the status back to "proposed" when you have confirmed experienced editors for your event. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 06:04, 24 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
