Response to Ifteebd

Dear @Ifteebd10, I am thankful to you for going through this proposal keenly and putting forth your suggestions under the tabular section that you have entitled as Grow. Communications is of course an area where one finds communities suffering from crisis. Given your suggestions, I take the notes and assure that the person who will be assigned the task of communications will use all of the relevant online and offline venues where there's possibility to get a response from Indic-Urdu community, alongside the DCW channels. Yes, I agree with your idea of having to include more initiatives under this proposal, however, since this project aims to advance Movement Charter, I believe such angles already exist there like #25 and #26, apart for them "local advocacy" #22 which is the primary aim of this proposal. This project would consider all of these initiatives, and I am once again thankful to you for making a mention.

Your concerns about the number of participants is also reasonable. In Delhi, we will have around ten participants, and in Deoband we will have around seven participants. The exact number of participants in Hyderabad is not clear to me either but I feel it should go to more than ten. DCW has formed some basis at Hyderabad earlier and I hope this helps me with that. I have learnt from Aafi to keep targets minimal (I kept 20) and then thrive to go beyond this. I have had such experience with the DCW Bhopal Photo Event where we set the target as 200 but we got it over 350!

Your concerns related to breaking down the budget are reasonable, specifically the budget related to travel and translations, and I have updated the modified budget-file on the proposal page. The reason for keeping the budget minimal for venue/food is that reaching Deoband and New Delhi is not very much difficult, but reaching to Hyderabad is difficult, and given these reasons, I believe it is not good to seek much community resources. The entire budget in the three lines (Venue+Food+Unforeseen) is 19,500 INR and I feel this is adequate. Your concern about the budget for translation is once again justified. My educational background includes me having been through juristic studies and I believe this would help me maintain the legal accuracy in the translations. My own concerns around budgeting for translations include it the Movement Charter's legality than being a normal document or a book, and thus a more time/effort consuming process. fwiw, I believe the entire task of translation would be time consuming a budget of 40$/hour is justified, given all of these angles. Going through all of the documents, translating them, reviewing the translations, helping translate the surveys and forms, reviewing/updating earlier translations is going to take more than 12 hours but I believe this suffices.

I am thankful to you for your additional suggestions as well. Please let me know if you find the above responses adequate or if there is anything missing. Thank you. Numis Zuhair (talk) 10:54, 11 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my comment and I apologze for being late. I'm happy that your perspectives also align with my initial comment. I suggest adding these new ideas to your main proposal to make it more coherent. For example, mention the communication channels explicitly in the relevant question and add your legal studies background info in the main proposal to show how you're the best person to do this. You can also provide an approximate number of hours needed to translate the whole document and mention the general cost of translation in the current market and try to justify the proposed amount. I, personally think that the proposed amount for translation is okay for now.
Your enthusiasm and willingness is praiseworthy indeed.
I think there is a decline in the community interest in this phase of MC ambassador program or there are some potential gaps that are preventing the communities from joining comparing to the last phase. If possible, you can inform the responsible staff members to open the logic model google drive template for anyone on the internet. I'm trying to get some deeper understandings regarding the resource distribution process. Best of luck with the project. Ifteebd10 (talk) 18:41, 17 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Given various complexities around the program, upon suggestions from TheAafi, I have reduced the budget to less than 750 USD - and the entire program would be focusing on the Movement Charter draft chapters only. Numis Zuhair (talk) 09:59, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Feedback for Improvement

Hello @Numis Zuhair Thank you for your interest in supporting your community as a Movement Charter Ambassador. We have reviewed your proposal, and have the following comments and feedback.

  • It would be good to know how many community members you intend to engage with in the course of implementing this project.
  • Finally, in the activities section, please share the list (including links) for the pages you intend to translate for these conversations.

It is great to see the strong support you have received from the community already as this will be taken into consideration for the final decision.

Please respond to these comments on or before Wednesday, the 6th of September. All the best, YPam (WMF) (talk) 17:28, 2 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello @YPam (WMF). Thanks for your review. I have made necessary changes and included some links to Movement Charter pages that would be translated during this project. On the second question, we have a target of including twenty people in the conversations through online and offline meetings. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
