If possible, please keep your input concise. We'd particularly like feedback on the following questions:

  1. From what perspective or in what role are you providing your input? (For example: a Wikipedia editor, a representative of a Wikimedia chapter, a member of a regional committee)
  2. In what ways do you think this research can support members of the Wikimedia communities in their work on Wikimedia projects?
  3. Is there a particular project or affiliate in your country/region/project that can benefit from the result of this research and/or you recommend that the applicants seek to coordinate or collaborate with? If so, please provide details including the name of the project or affiliate and a short description of the relevance of the proposal to the needs of the affiliate or project.
  4. Do you have any other comments or feedback you would like to share with the Research Fund chairs?

Very useful research proposal edit

1. My perspective is from the viewpoint of an academic librarian who contributes regularly to Wikidata, as well as a member of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging, which has interest in Wikidata as a linked data environment for resources in libraries.

2. There's not much information available on who is contributing to Wikidata from GLAM institutions, so this research will be welcome as a way to learn more. I'm especially interested in learning about the unmet training needs for GLAM metadata workers.

3. The Program for Cooperative Cataloging will be a natural fit for taking on training gaps identified by this research. The LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group is also a great place to find information on this work.

4. This research proposal is very exciting and I hope it is funded! Skvader (talk) 19:08, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Beneficial to GLAM Communities edit

I'll second Skvader. From the perspective of a Metadata Librarian at a Medium sized Canadian University, this would be a beneficial exercise to get more feedback and integration with GLAM and Wikidata. It would be a helpful way for GLAM institutions of small and mid-range size with limited bandwidth to learn more about and participate with Wikidata and learn about the Linked Data.
