 | We want to remind all participants on this discussion page that the Community Resources and Research Fund teams have specific expectations regarding discussion about proposals in this space. In the Community Resources team's behavioral expectations for this space, anyone with concerns about a proposal is welcome to express them in a constructive and supportive manner. However, to the extent that feedback is excessive, contains personalized and disparaging remarks about the applicant or their organization, or if the concerns are expressed in an hostile or punitive manner, they may be removed from the discussion page partially or entirely. Relatedly, participants should follow the Universal Code of Conduct, which contains the minimum level of guidelines for communications and behavior on Wikimedia projects. It is like other proposals, but it is welcomed because the challenges with Wikipedia in India will be different from the challenges in Nigeria. This outcome of the proposal can help other countries learn what to do when solving their problems with Wikipedia rejection in the education community. --Semmy1960 (talk) 15:38, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for this feedback. Yes, the rationale behind the project is to look at the specificity of educational milieu here. We may even find that what we learn here might be applicable to South Asia as a whole. This is a region that struggles immensely with digital literacy because of its larger problems in literacy and education. What educators are thinking here about education and information can help us understand how to design better engagement practices with educator community here and elsewhere. Attitudes towards Wikipedia might be the starting point. The ramifications are for everything else that relates to use of technology. Wikipedia emerged as a leader and a significant community on the Internet impacting the way information is shared and community. With better engagement practices, it might be able to push for greater change in the way educators, and thereby students, distinguish between consumption of information and the process of education.
