Funded edit

Hello Gilbert Ndihokubwayo, thanks for submitting the proposal. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of 3,000 USD. We recommend a reduced scope for the project and a reduced budget. Here are the main requested changes:

  • We are funding only one of the following events: opening and closing ceremonies. Please remove related expenses for one of the events.
  • Reduced number of T-shirts only for facilitators and active participants.
  • Prizes should be reduced to 300 USD maximum.
  • Bank charges and contingency amounts should be reduced too.

We also have requests for any future grant proposal:

  • We request that you discuss any proposals with your community in advance. You need to notify your active community about any upcoming project and discuss with them the idea before applying for a grant. You need to describe how you have done it in your response to question 11.
  • We request that you have an experienced editor in the team for any future projects. We will not move forward with the project if there is no one in the team who has substantial editing experience in the target Wikimedia project.
  • Wikimedia User Group Burundi is not a recognized Wikimedia affiliate. However, on your Meta-Wiki page, social media, and/or Fluxx Grantee Portal you are presenting yourself as a recognized affiliate and this is misrepresentation that also goes against the trademark policy. We request that the group designation is updated and corrected on the relevant Meta-Wiki pages, Fluxx Grantee Portal, and other public-facing pages or materials. Even if the group title mentions that you are a "proposed" or "planned" affiliate you cannot use Wikimedia logos or marks to reference your own organization/group, you cannot refer to yourself as a "User Group" or "Wikimedia [country name]" if this hasn't been explicitly approved by the Affiliation Committee.
We are funding this grant request. However, we will not move forward with any future grant requests if the group designation is not clarified on relevant pages. You can reach out to the Affiliation Committee if further guidance is needed regarding the recognition and existence of Wikimedia movement affiliates.

Please confirm that you read and acknowledged all requests. On behalf of the Middle East and Africa regional funds team, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 05:16, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
