Program ini dapat membantu dalam pelestarian bahasa dan kebudayaan Sunda dengan mengumpulkan dan menjaga naskah-naskah dalam bahasa Sunda. Naskah-naskah bersejarah dalam bahasa Sunda ini nantinya dapat diakses secara luas oleh masyarakat. Selain itu, program ini dapat membantu dalam memberdayakan komunitas berbahasa Sunda untuk berkontribusi dalam proyek Wikimedia. Hal ini akan menciptakan kesempatan bagi individu di komunitas untuk berbagi warisan budaya mereka.

The ESEAP funds regional team has reviewed your application and we have the following comments and requests:

Main proposal:

• Thank you for your efforts put into enriching and improving the newly created Sundanese Wikisource. We appreciate the activities described in the proposal and we think that the proposal is viable with important goals.
• We request that you reach out to all relevant communities in advance, inform them about this project and hear their feedback. However, you have not reached out to any communities on or off wiki. Our request is to reach out to them, including communities of the target Wikimedia projects. This step is crucial to move forward with the review process. We are making an exception and reviewing the grant this time. But in the future applications that are not properly discussed and communicated with the community will not be reviewed. (question 11)
• Could you please bring a few examples of the content which will be digitized and proofread? (question 7)

Budget:

• Please remove the following expenses from your budget:
  • Judging committee compensation for the competition - we do not support compensation for juries. You can prepare some small appreciation packages but you cannot compensate for their work. (row 18 in your detailed budget)
  • Camera rental - we think that camera rental is not crucial to implement the activities. Event photos can be taken from a mobile phone camera. (row 23 in your detailed budget)
• Overall, we recommend 3,7089,250 IDR (2,500 USD) for the project if the responses to our questions are satisfactory. Please update the detailed budget and questions 21-22.

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thank you for reviewing our application. We greatly appreciate it. For some of the comments and requests mentioned above, we'll be responding in a few points below.

Main proposal:

• <for question 11> - We have engaged the Wikimedia Bandung Community as a local community that will assist in activities such as digitization and lokakarya mentorship. This application draft has become one of the key topics of discussion in our monthly meeting. It seems that we did not include the meeting recording because it was meant to be internal, but the applications have been explained and discussed with anyone concerned, including the Wikimedia Bandung Community. It's important to us that anyone can provide feedback and suggestions.
• <for question 7> - Some of the content we're going to digitize include Sundanese manuscripts, whether written in the Latin script, Sundanese Cacarakan, or the Pegon alphabet. The majority of this manuscript collection consists of old magazines, folktales, reading books, and and many more related to other ancient manuscripts. Additionally, we'll be creating a page on Wikimedia Commons for the manuscript collection, similar to this one. As for proofreading contents, we won't be using all the manuscripts, as we're considering only those that are already in the public domain.

Budget:

• We apologize if our application contains incomplete explanations regarding this compensation. The staff related expenses we mentioned are not meant for the external juries who will only assess the competition results. Instead, this compensation is intended for the competition coordinators staff, which will be filled by myself and Akbar Soepadhi. We understand that this activity is voluntary, but our reason for this is to ensure that we can uphold our commitments and responsibilities according to the schedule we have set, which will span over a full month. We have several responsibilities, including designing the competition from initial preparation stage, such as collecting competition materials and creating a landing page, evaluating participants' proofreading, and designing social media posts about the competition.
• Camera rental - Actually, we want to use this camera specifically for scanning manuscript pages as a substitute for a scanner book, as scanner rental services are not yet available in our country. This rental includes a camera, tripod, and lighting. We opted for a camera because we are concerned that our personal phone cameras might not consistently produce good quality images that may not be readable by OCR on Wikisource. We’ve also reached out to Wikimedia Indonesia regarding this, and fortunately, they have allowed us to use one of their scanners book. However, we still need two more devices.

Hello Salm Abdullah, thanks for your response. We made a decision to partially fund your grant request in the amount of 45,674,720 IDR. We are making the decision with a few recommendations:

• If any team members receive compensation for their work, the proposal should clearly reflect their roles and responsibilities. It should be clear why this need cannot be covered by the efforts of volunteers.
• We appreciate your work on communicating the proposal to your community. However, you also need to notify the on-wiki community on the target Wikimedia project about this proposal. They need to have a chance to review the grant request and provide any feedback that they have.
