Not funded edit

Hello chukydyk,

Thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of Wikimedia Movement in the most efficient and effective manner.

After a thorough review of your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here are the main reasons for our decision:

  • Community notification isn't done properly. It's mentioned that the community has been notified in the African mailing list but I couldn't find any notice. You are required to notify your active community members and discuss this proposal with them in advance. I also couldn't find any community engagement on the talk page.
  • The applicant and some members of the team don't have experience on the target Wikimedia projects. We require that trainers have relevant experience on the target Wikimedia project. This has been communicated in the past too.

Hello DSaroyan (WMF)

  • Secondly, on what basics do you certify that they people I'm using for this Project are not qualified? These are people with relevant experience and track records of their contributions and training of new editors on various Wikimedia projects and I have worked with them.

Please go through their contribution via this links: Zend2020 Inyor4mr Oby Ezeilo Udehb

Hello chukydyk, I'm sorry that the decision is questionable for you. However, let me try to explain the decision further.
  • You are required to inform and engage the community in a meaningful way. In question 11, you mentioned that you reached out to the community via the following channels:
    • Telegram group - you just put the link without any further clarifications. I think you have edited your message recently. I
    • African mailing list - you claim to do it but I couldn't find any emails from you.
  • You are required to have relevant experience on Wikimedia projects.
    • You haven't actively edited any content-related pages recently. While you mentioned you would be the English Wikipedia trainer, you only have 35 edits on English Wikipedia.
    • User:Zend2020 is blocked on English Wikipedia for creating promotional articles. In the past, my colleagues and I highlighted that this is a concern.
    • User:Oby Ezeilo would be your Wikimedia Commons trainer. I have concerns about their experience on Wikimedia Commons as well.
    • User:Inyor4mr - you didn't mention this person in the team, neither their role.
    • User:Udehb - experience on Wikidata is clear.
I also want to highlight that I have posted a similar feedback for your previous project in the past. I encourage you to address all concerns before re-applying. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:16, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
