Support. I have see the potential of this project on the Igbo Wikipedia. Continuing this on a larger scale is definitely a great idea. User:OtuNwachinemere did an amazing work on the pilot I witnessed on Igbo Wikipedia. I believe this grand will help him expand the scope of this amazing work.

  1. this project is so needed, because pronouncing most African names has been a challenge for most people outside Africa. as a matter of fact, it is sometimes a challenge for Africans from a different country even. And after witnessing the first execution of this project with the micro grant from Igbo Wikimedian User Group, I strongly believe that its time to scale it up. I strongly endorse this project

Funded edit

Dear OtuNwachinemere, thanks for submitting a grant proposal for this interesting project.

  • We are funding the project in the amount of 2,130 USD or 890,766 NGN. We think that the budget for merchandise and prizes is high and we recommend a decreased amount of 30 USD per person for merchandise / prizes (900 USD in total). It is 600 USD less than what you requested.
  • We have a question after funding this grant request. What are your strategies of engaging participants after the proposed activities?

Please make the budget adjustments to the public budget file shared and respond to the question on this page. Thanks so much for your work. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 12:18, 23 September 2022 (UTC) (on behalf of the Middle East and Africa Regional Funds team)Reply

Hello @DSaroyan (WMF),
Thank you for the review.
To answer your question:
There is already an existing online group from a previous successful project and new participants (especially non-Igbo speaking) will simply get absorbed into the group and all coordinations during and after the project life cycle will be communicated thereon and implemented thereof.
