Patially Funded edit

Hello @Robertjamal12 thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of 48,990 GHS (4,150 USD) with the following comments:

  • The project's focus on empowering community members and enhancing their skills, retention, and engagement in Wikimedia projects is commendable. The successful elevation of the Fante language from the Incubator to Wikipedia would be a significant achievement. The project's commitment to collaborating with academic institutions, GLAM institutions, and organizations adds depth to its approach, fostering sustainable community growth.
  • While the project outlines its activities and engagement strategies well, there's room for improvement in terms of long-term thinking and and plans. Does the team have any ideas for how to ensure that community engagement and initiatives are sustained beyond the initial project period?

Dear @YPam (WMF), thank you for your positive feedback on our grant proposal. We are happy to bring to your outfit's notice that the Fante language has successfully transitioned from the Incubator to Wikipedia. It's now a live Wikipedia (https://fat.wikipedia.org), and we are dedicated to building on these achievements.
Regarding long-term sustainability, we are in the working on a comprehensive plan which we will be glad to share with you soon in future. This include among many other things:
Community empowerment: We will help community members gain new skills to contribute independently and this will help with editor retention because they would have added value to their lives.
Continued Collaboration: Our partnerships with academic institutions and organizations will extend beyond this project and we are looking at making those institutions our club base for our communities to meet, interact, share and do local level editathons.
Leadership Development: We plan to mentor future community leaders for ongoing initiatives especially the club base leaders.
Again, we are believers of feedback and conscious learning. We will leverage on survey as a tool to find out the impact of whatever we are doing and then run analysis on the results to find out of what is working well and how we could do this differently in future if we were to do the same project or another one else.
We are open to suggestions to achieve a lasting community success.
Thank you for your continued support and we truly appreciate it. Robertjamal12 ~🔔 10:24, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

w:en:Wikipedia:OABOT edit

I see you plan to make new users edit Wikipedia. Have you considered making them start with some assisted editing? For example OAbot is a tool to quickly edit references. It's educational on multiple fronts (templates, reliable sources, systemic bias, copyright) and can make the participants feel some sense of accomplishment quite quickly.
