Grants talk:PEG/WM CZ/Full-time employee

Is this project still open? Has WMF staff contacted you? I mean it's mid-2011 and this grant application was made since 2010, so I'm wondering whether there's a communication barrier or something...--Abbasjnr 20:06, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Second what Abbas said above. It looks like a well written grant request, but is it still required? Craig Franklin 06:31, 5 June 2011 (UTC).Reply

According to the rules: “With some exceptions for larger more complex grants, grants should not fund staff salaries and other recurring expenses ”

I think this kind of grants only should be accepted if there is a meaningful contribution in the total cost by the soliciting group and there is also a working plan with clear evidences that at the end of the period the group will raise enough funds to sustain the position beyond the duration of the grant.

My opinion is that in the current status the grant should be rejected.

Advice for requesting group: Improve it by providing financial situation of your group, contribute to support part of the cost with your own resources and include in it a plan to raise funds that can guarantee you will be able to continue paying the position without WMF support after the first year. --Josepnogue 16:36, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

What Josep wrote above is essentially the WMF's position about this grant request. It is being kept open because WMCZ may still revise it; if they let us know they can't improve the request, it would be rejected. Ijon 19:39, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I am not official WM-CZ representative, but I belive this page is one year old, and the chapter is now participating in some kind of Organizational Growth & Development Pilot Project, so this grant request is no longer up-to-date. --che 21:07, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

To me, the idea is not so bad as some things are vague in the whole application. The sum given is only for one year, so if you hire a full-time employee I doubt that you'll do it for only one year. My question here is how do you plan to pay the salaries in the other years of employment? And if you already know, or have already found some source of funds, why don't you try to use it to cover the initial cost? Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski 19:41, 8 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

General policy edit

Before we can consider this grant request, we need to figure out a general policy for WMF-funded staff in chapters.

Also, we are waiting for a general confirmation from WMCZ that this request is still current, considering their recent board change and their focus on making progress with grant money they had already received. Ijon 17:05, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not funded edit

Long months have passed since this request was made, but it is our impression that WMCZ still does not seem to be ready, in terms of governance and stability, to hire a full-time employee. The WMF would like to see some evidence of restored stability, and significant progress on the existing (large) grants, before it would re-consider this request.
