Additional comments from the Committee:
  • The idea is a sound way to increase gender diversity and content, however the idea of having students and staff carry on the program after one training session is unlikely based on prior experiences on campuses.
  • Would recommend a part of the execution that has to do with creating a community of such advisors (e.g. organizing events, or even some for of online communication).
  • The group has a target for training experienced students at their university but no evident community engagement or support from the university. Would like to see contact with departments on campus who might share their interest.
  • There is little evidence of Wikimedia community engagement in this project, and little explicit provision made for attempting to deepen and/or sustain community engagement in the project itself.
  • The idea of targeting students who are knowledgeable about social science is a good one, but could most likely be done at a lower cost with collaboration with local Wikipedians and working with the Wikimedia Foundation Education program.
  • The budget is too high for a project of limited scope that anticipates 30 participants.
  • One-off training session do not often bring in students long term so the target is unrealistic based on previous experience working with students and staff.
  • Would suggest the proposers look at other successful campaigns like Art + Feminism and contact existing WikiProjects.
