Appreciation

• We appreciate some of the innovative program work WMCH is doing, including your partnership with the Bellevue prison. We greatly appreciate WMCH’s active role in finding ways to distribute offline Wikipedia to more readers; we recognize WMCH as a leader in this area.
• We are interested to learn about the workshop including collaborations between younger and older people, and will be very interested to learn successful results are replicated in future iterations of this program. Again, we recognize WMCH’s continued dedication to expanding access to Wikipedia for groups that currently have limited access.
• Congratulations on establishing a rigorous and transparent hiring process as you continue to grow your staff. It is a good observation that establishing these new processes can take time away from planning and executing new projects.
• Congratulations also on your fruitful partnership with the Swiss Herbarium and the significant contribution from the Lotterie Romande!
• We are excited about your opportunity to work with some volunteers from the Civilian Service. This is also an idea Wikimédia France is currently experimenting with in their own context.

• Please share more about your project Kiwix in Jail. You report the project work has been led by one dedicated volunteer. Do you plan to expand on this work or engage other volunteers in the future?
• We encourage you to tell us more about your plans for collecting data like the number of participants reached through workshops.
• It is interesting that you awarded 10 Wikimania scholarships to volunteers outside of your area of geographic focus (Switzerland), which is unusual for most chapters. Would you please share more about your reasons for doing that?

Hi sorry for the late answer, we were looking if some of the answers may find there place in the Q3 report and/or the 2013-2014 FDC round application.

• Kiwix in Jail will be a major point of our new program for 2014, Offline Dissemination. New volunteers already try to contact new prisons, but they face the problem of needing to be present during workday. That's why we plan to recruit a project manager that can assume the workload associated with this project.

• We will develop a set of forms for every workshop, including statistic about the workshop (date, time, attendees, organizer) but also feedback collection.
• Wikimedia CH has a tradition of supporting wikimedians according to their language and not their localization. This can be explained by two main points, first several of our members are connected with Wikimedians over the world and then develop project not only in Switzerland, for Wikimedia CH it's important to support these projects at all level. The second point is that Wikimedia CH is multilingual by itself, and our activities have naturally evolved by supporting any activities of any of the Wikimedia project relevant for the swiss context, ie focused on the language and not the localization. For Wikimania, it's for example relevant for us to be sure that German, French and Italian speaker from all over the world can meet to create international collaboration. In addition, we request from each recipient to provide us a short report, that our member will receive in our Newsletter, like this we can give more information to our members about the wikimedia world. Nevertheless, we are not 100% satisfied with our process this year. For 2014 we think to exclude Wikimedians coming from country with a chapter receiving funds from the FDC. The rationale for that is that FDC is intend to improve the efficiency of the dissemination of the funds in the movement, and we think that scholarships for event like Wikimania should be heavily assess by this process. We believe that for a Wikimedian, from a country with a chapter applying to the FDC, having only two ways of receiving scholarships (WMF and own chapter) is sufficient and efficient. --Charles Andrès (WMCH) 13:14, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Suggestions for future reports

• We encourage WMCH to grow even more reflective around its challenges. Consider providing a more detailed response to the question, “What were your major setbacks in the past quarter (e.g., programs that were not successful)?” We notice you share many challenges associated with each program or activity and we now encourage you to share more about your challenges at a high level.
• In future reports, please share more information about the work of your new community managers: we are interested in how their roles are developing, how they support the community and what the outcomes of their work are so far.
