  • The Project aims to address the gender gap on Wikipedia by increasing the representation of women in both the content and contributor base. This project will focus on creating and improving Wikipedia articles about notable women, particularly from Dutse of Jigawa State and other underrepresented regions. Additionally, it will involve organizing workshops and training sessions to empower more women to become active contributors to Wikipedia. By providing resources, mentorship, and a supportive community, the project seeks to foster a more inclusive and diverse Wikipedia environment.

I'm doing a two days of physical events, one day for training and one day for edit-a-thon.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal through Hausa Wikimedians User Group (WhatsApp group chat).

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will let them know about the project through social media channels, phone call and SMS messages.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

Yes, the participants have a Smart phones, Laptops and other supportive devices.

WhatsApp group will be created for the participants' engagement after the events.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

As a female editor and project lead, I am deeply committed to addressing the gender disparity on Wikipedia. This project is not just about content creation; it's about empowerment and community building. By engaging women in Dutse of Jigawa State and beyond, we aim to create a sustainable network of female contributors who will continue to enrich Wikipedia with diverse perspectives. Our workshops will include training on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, ensuring high-quality contributions.

  4. Tags and flyers: N15,0000.
  5. Branded Tshirts for the organizer and Facilitator: N6,000×2=12,000
  6. Food and refreshments to the participants and Facilitators = N2,000×22=N44,000 × 2 (for two days) = N88,000.
  7. Contingency = 20,000.

Total amount = 240,000.
