  • This project is a continuation of the previous training project on this same theme (sensitization/creating awareness of Wikipedia at FUTO secondary school, Owerri, Imo state.. This project seeks to continue and conclude the introductory part of training given to the students on the principles of Wikipedia editing. It will go further to educate them on the skills required for an editor to edit an acceptable article in Wikipedia and it's sister project. It will elucidate on what Wikipedia is and what it's not.

I'm doing one edit-a-thon and one training.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

The facilitator of this project will forward this project to Wiki Online groups like: Wikimedia user group Nigeria, Wikimedia user group (Owerri network) Wiki Fan Club Alvan, Igbo Wikimedia User, Twitter handle channels and on the Facebook.Telegraph groups like: Wiki for sustainable development, wiki for Human right and Wiki for the environment.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I created a Watssap group known as FUTO secondary school Wikipedians, on this platform, both teachers and students will read about the event when it is approved. There will be an Online conversations which is to be held within 4 days before the implementation day.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, I have capable and qualified hands that can handle this event. On the other hand, some senior students who have shown their interest has Android devices Phones, Laptops and other Internet connectivity devices . A projector will be used to facilitate the training.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

After the event, the project Lead will engage them on follow up training.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

After this event, I would like a FUTO Secondary school Wiki Fan club to be established in the school.
